SUNSET series

I never tire of walking, observing, sketching and painting the ever changing light and mood across the bay - on the doorstep of my studio and home. I have long since wanted to develop a series of SUNSETS and recent walks over the rocks in early evening with the light shimmering over the low tides gave me an opportunity to start. These paintings are of a growing series of sunsets across the bay - but they also borrow from previous walks and working trips in Scotland throughout 2018 that I have been able to develop into paintings at the same time in the studio

Often a feature of my work as I engage with the physical process of mark-making, the impasto paint layered wet on wet is also to create expression, depth and connection with the landscape I am immersed in. These paintings are all complete with beautifully handmade, deep, scooped and hand-painted blue-grey wooden frames - leading the eye into the work. Signed by me on the front - and all labelled on the reverse these are ready to hang
