SPANISH series

Having visited and stayed in the Andalucian region of Spain many times - travelling between Benalmedina on the coast to the mountain village of Mijas - a small series of paintings have been produced that reflect the sketches and paintings done when there. My endeavour in this small series has been to reflect the bright, open Mediterranean sky and particular light that so dominates this southern region of Spain

Often a feature of my work as I engage with the physical process of mark-making, the impasto paint layered wet on wet is also to create expression, depth and connection with the landscape I am immersed in. These paintings are all complete with beautifully handmade, deep, scooped and hand-painted white wooden frames - leading the eye into the work. Signed by me on the front - and all labelled on the reverse these are ready to hang
